Divorce and Family Law

It is an unfortunate but inevitable fact that many marriages in the United States end in divorce. While we always counsel our clients towards reconciliation, especially when children are involved, sometimes it becomes apparent that there is no alternative to divorce or separation. In these situations, we counsel our clients on the issues of equitable distribution, custody, child support, maintenance (alimony) and visitation. As we are on both the 18-B Panel and the AFC Panel, we have also handled many neglect petitions, juvenile delinquency issues, persons in need of supervision (PINS), termination of parental rights, and various other family court issues and, as such, we are well versed in all areas of divorce and family law. As parents ourselves, we are particularly sensitive to how divorce affects children and are always looking out for their best interest both financially and emotionally. We represent clients in both the Supreme Court and Family Court and also represent children as well. As such, we are able to provide a unique perspective in order to try and resolve matters amicably while always keeping finances and the issues regarding the children in mind.

Corporate Law, Contracts and Commercial Transactions and Construction

We offer our clients general counsel in connection with the formation of corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and sole proprietorships, including the drafting and negotiation of shareholders agreements, LLC operating agreements, partnership agreements and employment agreements. We also have extensive experience in connection with the acquisition or sale of existing businesses. Regardless of whether you are buying or selling a restaurant, laundromat, car wash, professional service company, technology company, medical practice or any other type of business, we have the expertise to handle them all and guide you through the process. We also have a wealth of experience drafting and negotiating constructions contracts for both contractors, subcontractors and property owners.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution

We represent businesses and individuals in all areas of civil litigation. Our first goal is obviously to resolve any disputes and, to that end, we regularly counsel our clients on how to avoid litigation in the first place. However, should litigation become inevitable we work closely with our clients for the most effective defense or prosecution of claims. We handle all phases of civil litigation in both federal and state courts, appellate courts, including mediation and arbitration proceedings. Real Estate Law

Whether you are buying or selling your home, need a lease drafted or reviewed for a new or existing business or even have a more sophisticated commercial real estate transaction, including 1031 exchanges, we have the expertise to guide you through the process. We have represented buyers, sellers and lenders on all types of properties from cooperative apartments, condominiums, single family homes to much larger multi-million dollar rental properties, shopping centers, warehouses and office buildings. In addition, we have a significant amount of experience in title insurance matters and other types of real estate disputes including landlord-tenant matters.
